Planting with the 24 rowx 22" central fill planter this spring allowed us to cover more acres per day with a more uniform stand. We still try to seed at 5 mph or less.

Many hours of the summer are spent on the sprayer, or the tender truck. This is kind of how summer goes; Plant, spray  wheat, clean sprayer, spray corn, clean sprayer, spray soybeans, clean sprayer, fungicide wheat, clean sprayer, 4th of July, spray soybeans again, clean sprayer, watch for bugs, kill bugs, clean sprayer, Harvest.

Immediately after harvest, we get out the scraper, and try to get the fields properly drained for next year.  The fields are topo. mapped using GPS when they are planted, then when we come back with the scraper, we know where to cut and where to fill. This was our first fall with this system, and it looks like a real time saver.

If everything goes right, by September we have a nice crop of corn and beans to harvest. This picture was taken in a field of PFS 0905, it is our favorite bean.

We had a record amount of rain this fall and the field conditions were totally saturated. We had a nice crop of corn and beans but the fields were too wet to carry the combines. In September we decided we better have a combine with tracks on it so, we bit the bullet and purchased this Lexion 585R. We harvested 300 acres with it, and then it got too wet for it as well. The rest of the crop was harvested after the ground froze.

We finished corn harvest  on December 4th in the snow. It was a terrific crop, and we are happy to have finished. Our son Paul was married on the 6th, so it's a good thing we got done when we did. We have had a lot of cold weather since, and several major storms with a total of about 20" of snow....and counting.

Dec. 24th      24.5"
Dec. 30th      33.5" an all time record for any month! Yikes!
